After installing an Intel X520 Ethernet adapter on a Dell Poweredge, I received the following error when using non-Intel GBICs:
Error When Using Finisar FTLX8571D3BCL 10GB GBIC
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)
Error When Using Dell FTLF217P2BTL-FC 10GB GBIC
The device cannot start (Code 10)
{operation failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful
No Error When Using Intel Brand GBIC
The issue was fixed by utilizing an Intel brand GBIC model FTLX8571D3BCVIT1. After replacing the GBICs with the Intel brand GBIC, uninstalling and reinstalling the device from device manager fixed the problem.
The Intel GBIC connected to a Dell Fiber switch which utilizes Dell brand GBICs. There were no connectivity or transmission issues.
