You may receive the following error in SAP GUI for Windows 740: Hostname ‘NiHLGetNodeAddr’ unknown.

Details show that the SAProuter NI (network interface) is unknown or not found.

If you check the connection properties, you may notice a trailing /H/ in the SAProuter String. This should not be present as outlined below.

This is a known bug/issue in some versions according to this SAP forum post.

To remediate, open the following file on the affected PC: C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\SAP\common\SAPUILandscape.xml.

Right click on the file and select to open it with Notepad. You will see the trailing /H/ on the router string. Remove it and save the file. You can see the before and after images below.

Once the /H/ has been removed and the file saved, exit SAP and reopen it so that it reads the new values.
