After several year’s hiatus, there has been a resurgence in misleading notifications related to Web site domains. Today, I have received a notice from United States Domain Authority, LLC. If you do not read the entire notice carefully, you may think it’s a domain renewal notification. The letter is more of a solicitation than a notice. It’s for a listing service that charges $ 289.00 to list your business/domain on their Web portal. Note that you can list your business/domain in other, more relevant listing services such as Google’s My Business, Yahoo and Yelp, free of charge.
At the time of this writing, the domain of United States Domain Authority LLC has been active for only a few months and is ranked 914,921th place in global engagement by Alexa’s Web ranking service. In stark contrast, Yelp, a listing service that’s free, is ranked 228 and Google My Business is ranked # 1.
